An Individualised Living Option (ILO) gives you full choice and control over where you live and how your supports are delivered. Instead of fitting into a pre-set group home or shared setting, an ILO allows you to:
- Select or design your own home environment, whether that’s renting a private apartment, purchasing a house with friends or family, or finding a specialist disability accommodation (SDA) that meets your needs.
- Assemble a personalized support package—deciding who supports you, when they come, and exactly what tasks they help with (for instance, personal care, meal preparation, or social outings).
- Manage your own budget (with assistance as needed), so you can hire support workers directly, negotiate pay rates, and handle any associated housing costs.
ILO funding is flexible: you can use it to pay for rent or mortgage contributions in some cases, engage support workers for daily assistance, and cover tenancy-related expenses that align with your NDIS goals.
