Meet Donna, Senior Support Worker and Care Coordinator. Donna Bowe is a compassionate, calm and highly experienced Senior Support Worker and Care Coordinator with more than 30 years of experience across social work, community development, disability support and care coordination.
She has supported older adults, people living with disability, and individuals experiencing mental health challenges, social isolation, homelessness and complex life circumstances. Her approach is strongly person-centred, trauma-informed and focused on building trust, dignity, safety and meaningful connection.
She also has experience supporting participants who require 24/7 care in Supported Independent Living (SIL) and home-based settings, assisting with daily routines, emotional wellbeing, community access, domestic support and maintaining calm, respectful and consistent environments.
She has extensive experience supporting people across disability, housing, community development, social work and complex support environments.
As a Senior Support Worker and Care Coordinator with Assist Lifestyle, she supports participants who require 24/7 assistance in SIL placements and in their own homes. Her role includes supporting daily routines, emotional wellbeing, community access, domestic tasks and care coordination while helping ensure supports remain safe, consistent and aligned with individual goals.
Her previous roles have included senior community development, community centre coordination, engagement and consultation, housing support and frontline social work. Across these roles, she has worked closely with older adults, people with disability, culturally diverse communities, people experiencing homelessness, and individuals with mental health and other complex support needs.
She has also supported people living with acquired brain injury, dementia, alcohol and other drug challenges and social isolation, always maintaining a calm, respectful and strengths-based approach.
She is empathetic, reliable, mature and deeply committed to helping people feel recognised, valued and supported. Her calm presence and strong relationship-building skills help participants feel safe and respected, while her extensive experience allows her to respond thoughtfully to complex situations and changing support needs. She enjoys hot yoga, walking, bushwalking, gardening, bush regeneration, cooking, baking, day trips, camping, international travel and multicultural connection, helping her build natural rapport with participants and support meaningful community-based activities.
Comfortable supporting participants with pets and assistance animals, including feeding, walking, grooming and general pet care during support shifts. She understands the positive role animals can play in wellbeing, companionship, routine and emotional regulation and is comfortable working in animal-friendly homes.
